Richard Bard was born and raised in Lawrence, MA. His passion for working with equipment and engines began as he grew up around his family’s logging business in Maine. He attended the Greater Lawrence Technical School, where he took courses on Small Engine Repair and Heavy Equipment. He learned from great teachers who helped him understand all the products and how they worked; it also helped him understand the business side of this industry.
Rich’s first job in high school was working part-time here at Turf Depot as an Assembler. After graduation, he transferred to the Parts Department. With his technical knowledge and experience he began working as a Service Writer.
As his passion for business grew, he worked his way up to the title of Parts Manager, followed by the Parts & Service Manager. In 2007, he became the General Manager for Turf Depot.
The entirety of his career has always been here at Turf Depot. They say if you find a career you love, you will never work a day in your life. That saying holds true for Rich. He loves the industry and working with others who are just as passionate about it; he is always striving to gain knowledge and insight for what is best for our customers. Most of all he loves the Turf Depot way!
Turf Depot is like a family to Rich, and that includes our customers. Especially those customers who have returned year after year to see him. This is so much more than a job to Rich. When his wife and two daughters sit down at night the names of his co-workers and customers are very familiar to them because they know how much Turf Depot means to him. It is a part of his life and theirs as well.

(Where I have one of the best staffs and the greatest mechanic on the planet Jamie Fyler.)
A little information about me.
I have been in the retail sales for over 20 years.
I have sold camera equipment, sporting goods and now lawn care products.
I enjoy selling and making sure to qualify the customer before making suggestions.
I want to make sure that the customer is getting the correct product for them.
Even if it means telling a customer that the more expensive product is overkill for them.
I will always play devil’s advocate and give customers other options that might be of better value or more bang for their buck.
I will also be completely honest with customers and let them know how I feel about a product and if there is a better option I will tell them.
Before the I close out the sale I make sure the customer has all the accessories , fuel, and oil. So that they are ready to go.
I have always been able to sell anything. When I worked in the camera industry I didn’t even own a camera. And wasn’t even interested in photography.
but that is what made me a very good salesman. Because the other sales people who knew everything about photography inside and out.
Would basically overwhelm the customers with way too much information. That they would lose sales.
It all about knowing the basics, and letting the customers learn how to use their product .
Even now with lawn care products I live in a condo and don’t even own a lawn mower.
The difference is I used to mow my grandfather’s lawn as a kid. And I enjoy the challenge of selling different products.
And who doesn’t love a good chain saw or power tool. GO BIG OR GO HOME BABY
